Pink, Yellow, Blue? Giving Me Life.
I don’t know if it’s because I just read Night Circus (fabulous novel about a late-19th century supernatural side show…lots o’sexy magic!), or if it’s because the cotton candy man comes to Bobina’s playground every Saturday, but I’m super-into circusy shades right now. Big top chic, if you will. Saltwater taffy pinks and popcorn yellows, set off by splashes of shimmering cobalt blue (signifying the night sky and all it’s possibilities of illicit ringmaster sex, of course…oh please read Night Circus). Gorgeous! And an instant-mood lifter, which is kinda the name of the game right now. Here, my faves:
RIGHT & LEFT: Avon Nailwear Pro Nail Enamel in Sunshine and Cosmic Blue ($6), so vibrant, so attention-getting, so cute with a graphic black-and-white bikini on the beach. Or while wearing only panties, writing your blog on the couch.
TOP: Black Opal Tropical Sizzle Palette in Colada Cocktail ($14) has the best yellow shadow I’ve ever tried. Opaque, velvety-soft and bright, it’s an instant eye-brightener. And that sparkly blue! So nice applied in a thin line, tracing the upper lashes (use a tiny angled brush). Stunning.
MIDDLE: Tarte LipSurgence Lip Shine in Smitten ($24) is the loveliest, pale pink hint-of-a-tint — plus, it’s blended with peppermint oil, so you get that tingle, fresh breath thing.
BOTTOM: MAC ‘Beth Ditto’ Powder to the People ($38) is a wildly adorable palette of eyeshadow polkadots. I flaunted it on my vanity for weeks before I actually tried it (too cute to touch). Now, I blend the yellow, pale pink and aqua shades on my lids — separately, of course, I’m not psychotic — with reckless abandon. So summery-good.
