Jungle Love

Hey girls! As I’m laying on the couch, immobile and itchy (“IT MEANS IT’S HEALING, IT MEANS IT’S HEALING!” – my mom), the only thing lifting me out of my moody mood is the mound of fall makeup surrounding me. Yay! So much fun to sift through all the fabulous new makeup offerings! I realize I never would’ve made it as a fashion editor. They actually have to return all their swag. Such a drag. In any event, there’s a lot of yumminess here, but this morning I’m particularly moved by these two safari-ish, earth mama, sultry nudish palettes that beg to be paired with a stack of wooden bangles and raffia somewhere. Get into them:

Dior Fall Look Jungle Palette in Golden Browns is almost too pretty to actually use. Almost. This luxurious, limited edition palette comes with a jungle print made of matte, satin and shimmery shadows (blended together, it creates a chicer than chic bronze eye). Oh, and there’s a sexy nude gloss that works on virtually every skin tone.

Nars Trio Eyeshadow in Ramatuelle is just so pretty, so so pretty. Very Meryl in Out of Africa. These soft, earthy tones add instant radiance to brown lids and you get major color payoff. The palette comes with silver, icy peach and matte apricot — and I use the latter as blush. Try it, you’ll look so fresh and luminous.

Aaaand on a totally unrelated note, I wanted to introduce you to this week’s featured salon on The Fly Cut, Bibi Salon! One of Harlem’s trendiest, most glam salons – the sun-drenched, white-on-white space is worth it just for the ambience, darling – Bibi specializes in relaxers and color for all hair types. It was founded a year ago by celeb stylist Maisha Teacher, who’s worked with Hollywood’s best and brightest – and now, you, with your Fly Cut voucher ($2.70 for an A-list cut? Unheard of)! And while you’re there, get your brows shaped, your nails painted, or book a consultation with makeup artist Brandy Gomez Duplessis – devotees like the Kardashians and Angela Bassett can’t be wrong. Check out my interview with Maisha to find out more!
