Textures & Fetes

Fashion’s Night Out is usually a bit of a clusterf*ck.  If you’ve been, you know this.  For newbies, FNO is an after-hours shoppingpalooza that takes place the first Friday night of Fashion Week in New York City.  Basically, your favorite boutiques and party spaces stay open super-late, doors open to all, and it’s just a fashion free-for-all.  Tons of celebs, hot model boys and swag for days.  Usually the whole thing is like overdosing on dessert with your mom and aunties at The Cheesecake Factory back home.  Cozy, fun and delicious at first…then loud, gossipy and nausea-inducing two hours later.

Patrice at the party!

But this year’s FNO was pretty fantastic, I must say.  I, along with my girls Patrice of Afrobella (above…hey girl hey!) and Imani Dawson of Prep School Negro — helped host a gorgeous curly girl gala with Beautiful Textures, one of the most celebrated black haircare brands around (you might’ve noticed the lusciously moisturizing products at Walmart).  Every where you turned, the fete was flush with It-girls, beauty chicks and the rich Wall Street dudes that woo them.

Hair show flow.

Models — both willowy and curvy (so refreshing) — circulated in fantastically dramatic natural wigs and pieces.  My favorite part, though?  The Beautiful Textures team treated us to adorbs little ‘dos…I got beachy, textured, tousled waves.  Kinda cute, right?

Handsome Gentleman thought so when I saw him later that night. **bats lashes**

Anyway, it was a fabulous event, and I walked away with a brand new favorite product…Beautiful Textures Shine & Silken, an coconut oil, argan oil, and mango butter-infused serum that acts as either a curl-defining leave-in for wash and go’s, or a styling lotion used to give heat-styled hair hold and definition.  Which is how it was used on me.  The BT team applied it throughout my blowout, and then grabbed random sections, wrapping them around the barrel of a 1″ curling iron.  Then I tousled with my fingers and called it a day!  My hair looked sexy, smelled fantastic, and I’d never loved my bob more.  Fun event, fun product!! Love.

xoxo, Tia
