As my old school SYB Babes know, I was always devotee of a coppery/sheer/unobtrusive/goes with everything lip (remember my beloved Revlon Raisin Lip Glaze? It’s discontinued now. That’s how long I’ve been doing this). My thing was eyes and blush — I felt that lips should be on the more neutral side. For no other reason than they’re low-maintenance. I talk, I eat, I drink green juices (this is new), I chew on my lips when I write, I practice kissing on my hand (kidding) — if I were to wear a “notice me” lip, I’d be reapplying it, like, all day. Fussing over it. And honestly, anything that takes time away from me binge-watching Breaking Bad is a liability.
I have changed my tune in 2014. Now that Honey L’Amber — my blonde hair — has pumped into my life, my skin and hair color are doing an all-over golden thing, and getting washed-out is an ever-present threat. So I’ve gone bright! Starting with Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro in Eccentrico, the funniest gloss name, ever. SO PRETTY. It’s the perfect, poppy-bright pink. The texture’s so weightless it’s almost surreal (I abhor thick glosses), and even better? It’s in a gloss form, but it’s actually a long-wearing stain formula — so I just slick it on and go about my day, totally forgetting that I’m serving event lips. One last thing: the shade is at once cheerful and temptress-y, so it’s appropriate for both my daughter’s Christmas pageant at noon (she played a Magic Chicken, no explanation) and a no-bra date with a dashing silver fox (dashing until he asked me to recommend grey-enhancing hair products over gourmet fajitas).
God, these New York men.
Anyway, it’s a must-try!
