Makeup Gets Naked Wasted

Joan Smalls, Raquel Welch, 60s/70s supermodel Naomi Sims, Naomi C. and Christy T., Karli Kloss — they make naked makeup look like the ONLY choice, ever.

Hey ladies,

All I want to do right now is wear nude makeup. But not nude meaning barely there. Nude, meaning “on a decadent hippie caravan with Veruschka somewhere in Tangier in 1968.” Nude, meaning “sunburned, wind-whipped, on-safari cheeks…paired with almond-hued lids and toffee lips.” I want to look like a block of Werther’s caramel, spiked with Raquel Welch, featuring a side of 1991 supermodel.

So, that’s what I mean by nude.

I love a pop of color as much as the next makeup obsessive, but I’m sort of getting worn out by it. Nude seems sexier right now. Fresher. And if I’m going to be totally honest, I’m an eensy bit inspired by the neutral, monochromatic matte makeup the Kardashian girls are getting into (I’m sorry, Kim at her wedding and Khloe, like, everyday? Better than they’ve ever looked. Just brows and golden-taupe tones).

My top three favorite products to get the look: Almay Intense I-Color Shadow in Browns, Urban Decay Naked Flushed Blush in Strip, and Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Sheer Lipstick in Jasper:

Almond for the lid, champagne for the brow bone, and a lush mink for the crease (creates a gorge sculpted effect) -- all you need. Add black liner and three coats of mascara, and you're golden. Almost literally.

I’m obsessed with this blush. It comes with bronzer, highlighter, and blush — just swirl your brush over all three and sweep along cheekbones for a burnished, outdoorsy glow (somehow makes you look tanner, too). They come in a righteous range of shades, but my favorite is Strip.

This new sheers by Armani are EVERYTHING. Just a touch of ultra-moisturizing color…and they weirdly last for hours. I’m dedicated to Jasper, a nutty, sultry nude that’s translucent enough to sex-up all brown skin tones.

All hail beauty nudity!

I thought it was just me and my want for getting my morning make-up routine under 20 minutes. I’ve given my beloved ruby-woo and pro palettes some much needed rest. Instead I’ve been opting for nude lippies and bronzer. The Almay is a daunting next must-buy.

Interesting! I really love soft natural makeup which you referred as ‘nude makeup’. Your recommended products are great, however I purchased a waterproof liquid eye liner recently from Trend Labs. It’s so easy to apply with its thin marker-like tip that gives a natural look to my eyes. I never experienced the skipping or running out the line while using this eye liner though I’m not an expert. I believe, it’s the perfect liquid eyeliner for me! 🙂
